Summer Tertulia with Alejandro Pais

Martinez Residence, Tucson, AZ

TUCSON FLAMENCOS* Flamenco Por La Vida in collab with Mele Martinez welcomes back TERTULIA FLAMENCA TUCSON EDITION. This Friday we gather to chat about what we all all love FLAMENCO. Our guest speaker is Alejandro Pais Iriart, a flamenco guitarist born in Buenos Aires. Self-taught in the music of guitarists; Sabicas, Paco de Lucia, and Moraito, Alejandro began studying flamenco with Luis Campos and later with El Entri, Pedro Cuadra, and Ramon Amador. He worked as an assistant instructor at University of New Mexico under Eva Encinias and has performed in venues around the U.S. and Argentina with such artists as “Chuscales,” Jose Cortes, Kina Mendez, Coral de los Reyes, and Francisco “yiyi” Orozco. What is a tertulia? Tertulia is a social gathering with literary or artistic overtones.Tertulia also means an informal meeting of people to talk about current affairs, arts, etc. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tertulia TUCSON TERTULIA TOPIC: This Friday we dive into learning the guitarist side of communication and interaction with dancers and singers especially in Tablao or Peña settings, and what it takes to build artistic relationships on stage partiulcarly on the fly. This will bridge us into the importance of recognizing the mystical language shared between artists on stage, while dissecting how that language creates masterful work. Wine and Tapas will be provided. A $20 donation is suggested. We hope you can make it. Please contact Mele or myself for address or with any questions. ‪#‎tucsonique‬ ‪#‎tucsonflamenco‬ ‪#‎weloveflamenco‬ Much Love, Angelina
